Dr Richard Pomfret

Richard is a Counselling Psychologist with extensive experience of psychological assessment and treatment for a wide range of emotional difficulties, mental-health problems and life challenges. He is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and has several years experience in the NHS.

Richard draws on an integrative, evidence-based approach. This can include a range of techniques or theories in order to tailor therapy to the needs of the client. He is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT/ACT/CFT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Psychodynamic, Person-centred and Non-Violent Resistance parent-focused (NVR) therapies. He has worked in the NHS since 2015 and currently works for a specialist Behavioural Addictions service, helping those with gambling, gaming and tech related disorders. He has a warm and compassionate approach, challenging when appropriate and always solution-focused.
